TRAYL

A macOS menu bar app that adds emoji trails and drop effects to your desktop when you move windows and files around.

It is simple, visual, lightweight, and made to give your Mac a little extra personality.

As you drag things across your screen, TRAYL leaves behind smooth trails using Apple emojis. You can pick any emoji you want, adjust the trailing effect, and customize the little drop animations that happen when windows or files move.

Butterflies behind your windows. Hearts floating after a file. Tiny suns, stars, leaves, ghosts, moons, apples, whatever feels right.

It is not trying to be some massive productivity tool. It is just a small desktop effect that makes using your Mac feel a little more fun.

Apple Silicon Only

TRAYL is currently made for Apple Silicon Macs only.

I did build and test an Intel version, but the effects are pretty graphics-heavy, and the Intel build just did not feel good enough to release. I would rather keep TRAYL focused on the version that actually feels smooth, polished, and enjoyable to use.

Why I Made It

I like making small Mac apps that add a little charm to everyday moments.

TRAYL came from the idea that moving a window does not have to be boring. Your desktop can have motion, personality, and a tiny bit of weird magic without getting in your way.

That is really the whole point.

Compatibility

Requires: macOS on Apple Silicon
Intel Macs: Not supported at this time
